For dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and cheese low conductivity water is needed for steam generation, evaporative condensers, bottling line cleaning, and CIP. For canned products high quality water is required mainly as an ingredient of the end product as well as for steam generation. For breweries, soft drinks and fruit juices water with a moderate pH, hardness, conductivity and controlled alkalinity is needed as a critical ingredient of the end product.
